It is so nice to be able to visit my old hometown on the web. I lived with my Grandmother, Ruth Fowler, at 305 W. Main St.until my parents moved to Alabama when I was 8. That was many, many years ago. The old house I loved to visit every summer is gone now and my Grandmother passed away many years ago. I have many great memories of Manchester as a child. The busy downtown on Saturdays, the movie theater,the dime store, drug store, spending summers at Grandmother's after we moved away. Cruising with friends during my summer visits as a teenager. I don't get back often so it's a pleasure for me to have found this site. Thanks!

I had a phone call to day from my son who has married an American girl. They have aquired a house in Manchester, because they fell in love with Manchester. They love it so much.They tell me the people are wonderful. My daughter-in-law is working there abouts.
A few questions?
Why is Manchester called the "The Magic City"
Would I be able to buy a badge from your Police Dept and Fire Brigade for one of my other son(I have 3 sons). He was in our Fire Dept.in Tasmania, and the Ambulance but had to leave because of ill health. Both of your Depts look a happy lot.
My son Peter has great collection of badges. He started collecting when he was in Scouts.

Hello! I have heard a terrible rumour that is going around Manchester about "me". I just want everyone to know that I AM ALIVE AND WELL in Boston! I am the "Carol Estes" who was in the Liberty Singers and Band and graduated MHS in 1988. The other "Carol Estes", who apparently committed suicide recently, simply had the same name as me. As tragic as that is, I would never do anything like that.

Nice to see Manchester on the map. My family still lives there, I moved to Atlanta after my sixth grade year. Being in the Military for sixteen years I've seen so many places like Thailand, Germany, Hawaii, Kuwait, Iraq, Paris, Korea and many in between. So when I come home I can't figure out why the

My family roots go back several generations in and around Manchester. (Tallbot County, Harris County)I attended school at Manchester Elementary & Manchester High 1961-69 before moving to Waverly Hall, where I left from in 1983 to Southern California and returned to Midland (Columbus) last year. At least 4 generations of my family worked the Manchester Cotton Mill. I am currently researching our local mill history, Manchester to Columbus in preparation for a book.

I found your site by following a search engine. I think you have a cool site. We presently live in the Thomas Crossroads area in Newnan. We have been looking around at different areas because we are thinking about moving to the country. It is getting so crowded here!!! We went to Warm Springs a long time ago when my Dad was in the rehabilitation center there. It really had a lot of charm. I grew up in Fairburn Ga. and I really miss the small town atmosphere. I am a granddaughter of Erma and Jay Ellison, My Mother was Emma Lois. I'm currently living in Newnan , I grew up in Reading,Pa moved to Ga in 97. I first came to Manchester due to the death of my aunt Brenan and totally fell in love with the south , I guess due to my roots strong roots at that.Alot of us grands are moving back down due to the degredations of the inner cities ,it ain't easy living up north for real . I thank God my family is from the south cause it gave me a reason to move back home and enjoy life. My aunts still live up there and all they talk about is moving back to Ga but it's to late for them cause they missed out on the good stuff goin on down here things like life and health . I justhad to give a shout out to my mothers birthplace . If anyone has info concerning my grandparents especially please hit me back up .

We have friends and family who live in and about Manchester. We lived in Stone Mountain, but want very much to move back to Georgia. We are retired, and living on social security and some other pensions of my husbands. I was born in Warmsprings, GA in 1952. My Grandfather was "Hoss Williams" in Stovall, GA. My father was Joe Williams Jr.. We are the children of slaves and former slaves. In that area of the country all the family names that I know lead back to Woodward or Crowder. it is obvious to me that these slaves took the name of the owners of the Woodward/Ogletree (Oglethorpe) plantation. Deadend! I wanted to find the Indian roots of my grandmother Eudora Woodward.
