Stumbled upon your site by accident and was curious. The place looks really nice. I have family living in Atlanta so it's not unlikely that I might turn up there one day. Does anyone know how it came to be called Manchester considering it was only founded 100 yrs ago?

I'm happy to see my hometown on the map. Many good people all over world were born or lived in Manchester,GA. I still feel I played on the best football team in '87. Our record was 10-2. I grew up on 3rd Street in the 60s & 70s. I still daydream about pickup baseball games at City Field and playing Fox and Hound at night with all of the crazy kids from the neighborhood like PeeWee,Rufus,Cone,Big Al,and anyone else we could find. I have a wife and three children of my own now. I recently completed a master degree and teach elementary special education. I quit coaching high school ball and now coach my son's t-ball team. We're going through final exams this week and next week... keep my sister Katie and I in your prayers. In case you haven't heard my oldest sister Kelley is getting married this summer. July 28th at First Baptist Warm Springs. The guy she's marrying is great, and a mechanical engineering major to boot. I'll be home for the summer soon, and I hope it will be my last that I spend there. Next year will be Trinidad and field school. Just thought I'd give an update. My family always enjoys visiting The Magic City. We have friends in Shiloh, Jack & Lorna Meier, and she is proprietor of Collections on Main Street. I've had the pleasure of meeting Capt Mike Nelson of Manchester Fire Department as I'm a volunteer up here. As a railfan I love to watch the trains in Manchester and can't wait until my next visit to try out the new observation deck.
